Făgăraș World-Class Nature Reserve
Initiated by a couple of passionate biologists and activists, Barbara and Christoph Promberger, who dedicated their last 30 years to the cause of nature protection through their Foundation Conservation Carpathia, the Făgăraș World-Class Nature Reserve would like to be perceived as Europe's rival of Yellowstone National Park; a unique project of nature conservation in the Romanian Carpathians where the highest populations of large carnivores in Europe are living.
Their inspirational story and exceptional vision and values, as well as leadership abilities, have attracted a large community of volunteers and nature enthusiasts, local and international donors, in a common mission to create a one-of-a-kind forested natural park destination in Europe, with a focus on researching and preserving the biodiversity in the area, while protecting the cultural resources and encouraging sustainable friendly economic development through touristic activities, thus reducing the land and resources exploitation and their negative impact over the ecosystem.
Brandient collaborated closely with the founders and select NGO board members to establish a benchmark brand project in nature conservation across Europe.
The naming was a particular challenge: for the moment, the project is a private initiative and investment, developed with the objective that Făgăraș areal of land and forests will one day be legally donated to the Romanian state; till then, the National Park name cannot be used, so the current destination brand name is Făgăraș World-Class Nature Reserve.
The brand's visual identity choice for a flexible approach was generated by the need to address a complex network of stakeholders, including, among others, local communities, tourists, and the nature and research community. That is why, besides the logo, Brandient developed an entirely visual platform with three main pillars: communities, leisure, and nature. A special focus was developing the environmental signage system and the creative communication platform, including various headline typologies based on the narrative platform and positioning promises.
