Cartofisserie
Building a French fries emporium brand
Cartofisserie is a fast-food brand built on a single, well-loved product: French fries, done properly, with the sides and sauces that belong beside them. In 2018 its founders set out to grow a network of outlets around that focus, and asked Brandient to build the brand from the ground up.
Brandient created the name, the visual identity and the retail aesthetic of the locations. The name does the positioning in one word — cartof, the Romanian for potato, finished with the French -isserie of patisserie — promising a house that takes fries as seriously as a pâtisserie takes its pastry. The brand was designed to travel: Cartofisserie has since opened in tens of locations, with more in preparation.
The brand carries naturally into social media, where a growing community shares its own photographs under the slogan-turned-hashtag #friesforlife — the kind of everyday advocacy a food brand can earn but not buy.
Cartofisserie shows what a focused product, a well-designed location experience and a clear brand can do together: turn a simple pleasure into a business with reach. In 2019 the Cartofisserie logo was selected for LogoLounge 11, the annual international review of logo design.
