Revitalizing the oldest bank in Moldova — under Banca Transilvania’s watch
Victoriabank is the oldest commercial bank in the Republic of Moldova — founded in December 1989 as the country’s first, and a pioneer ever since: the first bank card, the first ATM, the first mobile app, the first credit for small entrepreneurs. Three decades on, it had grown into one of Moldova’s largest banks and its leading payment processor, having held its place through the serious turbulences of a young and volatile market.
By 2019 the bank had entered a new chapter, under new majority ownership and management — Banca Transilvania and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development — and a mandate to modernize across strategy, culture and digital. At the majority shareholder’s request, Brandient was engaged to rebrand it in support of that transformation.
The strategy started from what the bank already was. Victoriabank’s history was, above all, a story of resilience — three decades of performance and survival in a demanding emerging market — and that fighting spirit was equity to carry forward, not to discard. Brandient built the new brand on it, expressed in the mark itself: a V for victory, set in a visual territory of vitality and energy and carried by authentic narratives, so that a bank with a genuine pioneering past could meet its next chapter looking like the winner it had always been.
