NOD
A flexible, dynamic identity for the distribution leader building Eastern Europe’s multi-channel retail
Network One Distribution (NOD) was already one of the largest electronics, home appliances and IT distributors in Romania. Its leadership had set a bigger ambition: to stop being a national distributor and become a strong regional brand across Eastern Europe — the same move the retail names around it, eMAG and Flanco, were making in their own categories. To act on that, the company needed more than a new look. It needed a name and an identity that could stand on its own in external and regional markets, cleanly separate from the group it had grown out of, and signal that it was now playing a different game. It came to Brandient for the full rebrand, starting with the renaming of Asesoft Distribution to Network One Distribution.
The strategic decision was to refuse the way a distribution business is usually read — moving boxes from A to B. The renamed company was, in fact, a network: the relationships it ran on were the business. Brandient built the name on that. Network runs through the four constituencies the company lives by at once — its clients, its partners, the wider group and its own people. One carries the leadership ambition and the resolve to lead the market. Distribution names the work, across physical distribution and both offline and online retail. The name is not a label on top of the strategy; it is the operating model stated plainly. The three-letter form, NOD, gives a B2B sector that runs cold a human shorthand — a nod of recognition.
The strategy set that ambition as the brand’s spine, in a plain vision: to become a strong regional brand in the distribution industry. It gave the company five working values — team, intelligence, credibility, speed and flexibility — written as behaviors, not slogans. Intelligence meant thinking a step ahead. Speed meant moving fast because the company thought fast. Credibility meant promises kept. In a distribution business the brand is carried day to day by the people who move the product and answer to partners, so these values were the material the identity was built from.
Because the business depends on permanent change and movement, the identity had to move with it. Brandient built a dynamic logo system: the NOD acronym anchors each composition while the three words it stands for — Network, One, Distribution — rearrange around it, so every appearance is a fresh arrangement that still reads as the same brand. The result is one consistent identity that refreshes itself across the many touchpoints of a B2B distributor, marking NOD’s new chapter as a market leader. It was rolled out across everything the company puts in front of clients and partners, down to the livery on the vans and cars that are the working network itself.
A service-and-distribution brand only holds if the people carrying it believe in it, so the rebrand was launched inwards first. The team was taken through what a brand is and why it matters before the NOD identity was shown, through a live program of brand education and workshops that let employees find their own way into it. The launch came from the inside out rather than as an announcement from above, and it was met with real enthusiasm. The ambition the brand named held: NOD went on to expand into neighboring markets, and the name and its orange identity are still in active use more than a decade later. It was the second rebrand Brandient delivered for the same entrepreneur, after eMAG.
