QFort
Quality and comfort from the largest window-frame maker in South-Eastern Europe
In 2007, Casa Noastră stood at the kind of crossroads that decides a manufacturer’s next decade. Founded in Craiova in 1995 by Ștefan Cherciu, the company had grown from a windows distributor into a producer, and had just built the largest window-frame factory in South-Eastern Europe. Yet the business was still run — and still read — as a local entrepreneurial operation, its scale expanding faster than the organization built to run it, just as Romania’s accession to the European Union was redrawing the market around it.
The thermal-joinery category was large but fragmented: hundreds of hyper-local players competing on price, with no genuine service brands among them. The perception map was effectively empty. Brandient’s brand audit framed the question the board actually faced — not how the company should look, but what asset it would need to lead the category at home and to sell abroad. The category was open to the first company prepared to claim it with a coherent positioning rather than another commodity offer.
The architecture decision came before the naming decision. Casa Noastră — "our house" — carried real domestic equity but was never going to travel; it stayed as the corporate umbrella. The windows business received a distinct, ownable product brand, built on trust, performance obsession and a regional-leadership ambition, and engineered from the start for the Western European markets the company intended to enter.
From that platform came the name. QFort compresses the promise into five letters — quality, strength, comfort — a coined mark that communicates instantly to homeowners and to specialized trade buyers alike, and reads the same in Bucharest, Vienna or Milan. The promise was made explicit in the brand line, Proiectat să reziste — designed to last.
The identity gave the brand authority in a category that had none: engineering virtuosity with a German touch, precision as reassurance in a purchase where failure costs the owner comfort and money. The wordmark was engineered down to the letter — the "F" shaped to evoke a window corner and a set-square, its thin, open form suggesting the insulating air-gap and the passage of light. The blue-green palette was chosen against the category’s color conventions, giving QFort a distinctive technical signature a buyer could recognize across showrooms, vehicle fleets and building sites — the consistency a service brand needs when its product ends up in someone’s home.
Casa Noastră executed. QFort became a household name in Romania’s insulating-joinery market and, within two years, the vehicle that carried the company abroad — first to Austria and Italy, then through a growing network of monobrand showrooms across Italy, France and Western Europe, until exports came to provide the majority of the company’s revenue. A decade after creating the brand, Brandient was brought back to audit it as the company prepared its next stage of European expansion; the verdict was to keep the platform — the original promise had become the brand’s DNA. Today the company describes itself in the words first written for its windows: a business designed to last.
