BT Star Card

Banca Transilvania, the banking sector leader in Romania and one of the top Eastern European banks, has mandated Brandient to redesign the identity of its shopping card brand, Star Card, 12 years after its launch in 2011.

With over 500.000 users and a network of more than 20.000 partners in Romania, Star Card is the No.1 shopping card on the market.

The design's main challenge was to protect the brand equity accumulated into the existing visual identity while reflecting the leadership position under a contemporary design, capable of exacerbating the card's appeal and transforming it from a common functional payment instrument into a desirable lifestyle accessory.

The key strategic design decision was to adopt a visual manifest approach in the spirit of the contemporary shopping dogma, with pop-art-inspired elements — like striking colors and large typefaces in solid colors — creating a wordmark and a visual territory to help the brand stand out.
