Țuca & Asociații
Branding a breakaway practice of ambitious young lawyers — the "Formula 1" of Romanian legal consultancy.
As Eastern Europe’s legal consulting services landscape grew more competitive and specialized, a group of ambitious young lawyers, led by their founding partner, broke away from established firms to form their practice. The spin-off engaged Brandient to create the brand for their new venture, "Țuca & Asociații". Even with their talents and potential, their meteoric rise to becoming one of Romania’s premier law firms was unexpected.
The work started from a clear premise about professional services: a firm’s brand lives or dies on its people. Branding here had to be treated as an internal, management-led discipline rather than a marketing veneer — the lawyer who represents the firm is the brand, so the task was to build a distinctive identity to live up to, not a borrowed look to wear. A review of the category found that Romanian legal brands looked and sounded almost interchangeable — founder surnames, generic "attorneys at law" descriptors, and the same conservative typographic and color cues, all shaped by the advertising restraint expected of the profession. Rather than a constraint, Brandient reframed this sameness as a greenfield opening: a newcomer prepared to differentiate could earn reputation in a market where no one yet stood out.
From conversations with the firm’s leadership, a sharp positioning emerged. These founders were young, top-tier and unusually ambitious, and their youth — easily read as inexperience — was reframed as their real advantage: a high-performance, team-driven competitor pairing first-rate expertise with energy, drive and a close, elegant way of working with clients. The idea crystallized as the "Formula One team of Romanian law consultancy" — intelligent, powerful, positively aggressive and memorable, a machine built to win. The firm’s slogan, "Performance. Cum laude", encapsulates that ambition together with the team’s core values of dedication, teamwork, work ethic and tenacity, carried through a confident verbal identity.
Brandient crafted a distinctive logo for "Țuca & Asociații" that sets them apart from other legal consultancies. Instead of the traditional "&" symbol commonly seen in law firms, a forward slash was employed — a deliberate signal of teamwork, expressing that any member of the team can solve the client’s problem to the same high standard. Coupled with the usage of a sans-serif font and the bold red color, the design breaks away from the conservative and subdued graphics typical of the industry. This innovative design approach underscores the dynamism, ambition, power, success, and enthusiasm of this young and accomplished team of Romanian lawyers. The strategy was carried consistently across the full identity system — from logo and stationery to the corporate brochure, internal communications and signage — giving the firm a unified, ownable presence as it pursued a leading place in its market. The Lawyer’s House Wine was recognized with a Graphis Design Annual Silver (2014).
